Country Gospel Music Concerts
The Chuck Wagon Gang, called America’s Gospel Singers in a recent PBS documentary, will bring their special brand of vocal performance to the Smoky Mountain Convention Center April 7-9. A fixture of the gospel music scene for over 80 years, the group will gather with current and former members for three days of music, singing, and food.
The Homecoming will kick off on Thursday, April 7th at 7:30 p.m. with a dinner show at Tony Gore’s BBQ and Grill in Sevierville. Advance reservations are required for this performance and should be made directly with Tony Gore’s. During the show, the audience can enjoy a wide range of menu options, including Southern cuisine staples like fried green tomatoes, catfish, and of course, BBQ ribs.

The gathering with the Chuck Wagon Gang will continue on Friday, April 8th at 11 a.m. A Lunch Jam with The Gang will take place in the lobby of the Smoky Mountain Convention Center and will include a hot lunch buffet. Food options include ham, baked turkey and cornbread dressing, tossed green salad, whipped potatoes and gravy, green beans, hot rolls and butter, apple pie, tea or coffee.
Following the buffet lunch, members of The Chuck Wagon Gang – both current and former – will show off their bluegrass skills at the Bluegrass Jam Extravaganza, also to be held at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge.
Finishing up a day’s worth of gospel and bluegrass music will be a show at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center at 7 p.m. Before The Chuck Wagon Gang, the audience will enjoy a pre-show with The Foothills Quartet.
Friday’s activities, though, are just a warm up for Saturday’s 5:30 p.m. performance featuring current and former members of The Chuck Wagon Gang. The Gang’s special guests for the Saturday show will be The Primitive Quartet, another long-lived gospel music fixture. The Foothills Quartet will once again perform at the pre-show.
That’s a lot of food, fun and country gospel music for one April weekend. Any serious fan of gospel music will certainly want to attend and won’t want to miss any of the performances.
