The wheels are in motion for another season of Sevierville and Pigeon Forge car shows. Thousands of roadsters, cruisers, and muscle cars will roll into East Tennessee, flashing chrome and growling under the hood. From 30s era Fords to more modern power, participants and spectators alike will find more than enough to satisfy during September. Three rod runs will take place back-to-back throughout the month.
Shades of the Past
Shades of the Past will kick off the weeks of fenders, bumpers, and motor oil on September 9th and 10th at Dollywood’s Splash Country in Pigeon Forge.
Proud car owners will be competing intensely for the First Prize: a ’32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster. Second Prize will be $10,000. There are plenty more awards for everyone else.

New to Shades of the Past this year will be trophies and prizes for three categories: Street Rod of the Year, Street Machine of the Year, and Street Cruiser of the Year. Winners in each of these categories will receive $5,000 and will be featured on the cover of Street Rodder magazine. They will also appear in feature stories and in social media. Winners will also be invited to present their cars at the 2016 SEMA Hot Rod Industry Alliance banquet.
Aside from the top winners, awards will also go to the Top 25 and various other picks from industry sponsors.
Pigeon Forge Rod Run
Following close to the tail of the previous car show, the Pigeon Forge Rod Run will take place from Thursday, September 15th through Saturday the 17th. Held at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, this Rod Run features huge cash giveaways and plenty of door prizes. Spectators can enjoy the free parking and can tour the vehicles. Who will beat out the stiff competition to claim a coveted spot in the Ultimate 5?
With close access to the shops and restaurants of The Island in Pigeon Forge, the Pigeon Forge Rod Run will make for a perfect day of Showcar viewing at the Swap Meet and Car Corral.

Great Smoky Mountain Auto Fest “Reunion”
Rounding out the high-octane month will be the Great Smoky Mountain Auto Fest “Reunion”, on September 23rd and 24th at the Smokies Stadium in Sevierville. Produced and promoted by The Diner Rats Car Club, this event will go on rain or shine. Of course you want to hope for shine…nothing beats the gleam of a finely painted hot rod.
In addition to special awards and cash giveaways, the main prize will be a transmission. Participants and spectators can enjoy the vendors, the swap meet, the car corral and some live music. Registered participants can also fill up at the BBQ Buffet at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
So reserve your cabin and rev up the engines, fellas, and roll on over to the Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area for a full month of car shows during September. Plan to cruise in style the whole month!
