July 2016 Things to Do throughout Sevier County
It’s hot outside and there’s some “hot” stuff to do in the Smokies this July. Not only can you attend the first 4th of July parade in the nation and participate in a couple of fantastic Independence Day celebrations, but there is a whole lot more to do than just celebrate July 4th. And much of it is free! Free trolley rides, free entertainment and free national park admission. It’s all good in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville Tennessee.
1-30: Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales – This summer-long street festival brings great entertainment in the form of music, song and storytelling to downtown Gatlinburg. Performers arrive on the streets at 6 p.m. nightly.
1-August 7: Dollywood’s Great American Summer Celebration – Dollywood welcomes families for a fun-filled summer featuring long play days 10 a.m.-10 p.m., fireworks and tons of fun! Dollywood.com.
1-August 14: Free Parkway Trolley – Nine weeks of free trolley rides! Get on and off the open air trolley as often as you’d like along the Parkway between lights #1-#10. Trolley runs from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. every day. These dates are anticipated and subject to change.
1-August 14: Titanic First Public Display of Bandmaster Wallace Hartley’s RMS Titanic Violin – See the most prized RMS Titanic artifact ever recovered. View all Titanic events.
2, 9, 16, 23, 30: Gatlinburg Farmers Market – Shop our local farmer’s market for locally grown fruit and veggies, and locally made good stuff in the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Community at the Covered Bridge on Glades Road. 3: 4th of July Midnight Parade – This 41st annual showcase salutes the valiant men and women of our military services in the “First July Fourth Parade in the Nation!” Parade starts at the stroke of midnight to begin Independence Day. Floats, balloons and marching bands pay tribute to our country during this awesome night parade!
3, 10, 17, 24, 31: Kid’s Day at The Lube – Every Sunday through December 18 is Kid’s Day at Quaker Steak & Lube in Sevierville. Ages 10 & under get a Kid’s Lube Cruiser meal for $1.99 when accompanied by an adult diner from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
4: 26th Annual Patriot Festival – This Independent Day Celebration takes place from Noon-10 p.m. at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge. Activities begin at noon and live entertainment begins at 1:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and hang out for the entire day. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Headline entertainment is Joe Diffie. Fireworks start at approximately 9:30 p.m.
4: July 4th at Christmas Place – See Uncle Sam at Incredible Christmas Place and have some great food, candy and sidewalk sale shopping!
4: River Raft Regatta – Gather to cheer this the unmanned, floatable object race or call to participate! Free registration begins at 10 a.m. at bridge beneath the chair lift on River Road. Race begins at noon at Christ of the Smokies bridge and ends at Ripley’s Aquarium. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Call (800) 568-4748 for details.
4: 4th of July Fireworks Show – Join the 4th of July party in downtown Gatlinburg to celebrate “Independence Day” with a fantastic evening of entertainment and fireworks. You’ll want to be between lights #3-#5 before 10 p.m. for the best view!

4, 11, 18, 25: Kid’s Night at Texas Roadhouse Sevierville – Every Monday from 5-8 p.m. now through December 26, your kids can join in a legendary roundup of fun including Andy Armadillo, face painting and coloring during a variety of theme nights. To top of the fun is an ice cream sundae bar!
5, 12, 19, 26: Kid’s Night at Texas Roadhouse Pigeon Forge – Every Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. now through December 27, your kids can join in a legendary roundup of fun including face painting, arts & crafts, a balloon artist, and eating contest. To top of the fun is $.99 Ranger meals and an ice cream sundae bar!
6, 13, 20, 27: Bike Night at Quaker Steak & Lube – Every Wednesday night from 6-9 p.m. now through September 28 is the ‘Best Weekly Bike Nite.’ Enjoy live music and food & drink specials.

15-24: Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair – Art, crafts and music lovers will discover over 200 booths featuring some of the nation’s finest work. Artisans and craftspeople are on hand to demonstrate their skills, answer questions and offer their unique art for sale. Live Country & Bluegrass entertainment.
