Things to Do May 2018
This year’s early spring special events bring car shows, outdoor adventures, music and baseball to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville. Head to the Smokies and enjoy so much more to do this month!
1-31: Teacher & Nurse Appreciation Month – In appreciation of educators and nurses, we’re celebrating Teacher Appreciation Month AND Nurse’s Appreciation Week for the entire month of May. Present your work ID at Tanger Shopper Services for a FREE coupon book. Tanger Outlets, Sevierville.

1-December 31: Lego Display – The World’s Largest Titanic Model created by a 12-year old boy and made entirely with LEGO® BRICKS will be on display through the end of the year at Titanic Museum.
2-6: Minor League Baseball – It’s the Tennessee Smokies vs Birmingham Barons at Smokies Stadium in Kodak TN. See the full 2018 season schedule at smokiesbaseball.com
4: Music in the Mountains Spring Parade – Formerly called the Dolly Homecoming Parade, Pigeon Forge continues its time-honored tradition of a lavish spring parade with a new Grand Marshall, Cal Ripken Jr. Parade begins at 6 p.m.
4: Smoky Mountain Music Festival – Gatlinburg Convention Center
Band, orchestra, and chorus competition for Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, Junior High Schools, Senior High Schools. Each competition has approximately 3,000 attendees.
4-6: Kidfest 18 ‘Breaking Through’ – Gatlinburg Convention Center
Kidfest is a children’s discipleship weekend experience, targeting 6 through 12 year olds. Under the coordination of Church of God Youth and Discipleship, Kidfest is designed to give children an opportunity to come together with kids from other churches in various cities and states.
5: Annual Yellow Mustang Registry Cruise In – Cruise in for fun & games at The Diner with 50-50, drawings for prizes and appreciation for fantastic collectible cars from Noon-4 p.m. Sevierville TN.
5: Shine & Dine on Bruce – Live entertainment, lots of good food, and cold spirits line up for an evening of fun in downtown Sevierville. Purchase tickets in advance and bring a chair!
5-6: Circle Yer Wagons #47 – The Appalachian Volkswagen Association celebrates 22 years with their annual all VW show, swap meet and riverbank camping to the Sevier County Fairgrounds. Includes show, Miss Circle Yer Wagens, and other surprise concerts. Noon-6 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
8-12: Pigeon Forge Wilderness Wildlife Week – Free event bringing outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers together for 5 days of programs, productions and outdoor adventures from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. daily. Pigeon Forge LeConte Center. Visit online for list of experts, classes & seminars, excursions and exhibitors.
9-12: 2018 Smoky Mountain Antique Toy & Pedal Car Show – Show and auction includes prior to 1960 antique toys, vintage pedal cars, wagons, petrolia items and parts. Auction takes place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, so bring your treasures. No charge to buy or sell at this auction!
11: Sawyer Brown Concert – First Class Concerts welcomes Sawyer Brown back to Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge for an 8 p.m. show. Special celebrity concerts take place each month now through November. Don’t miss them! (865) 453-2003
12: Shrine FunFest Parade – It is fun with a purpose – supporting the important mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children®! Nothing is more entertaining than watching the antics of grown men riding teeny-tiny vehicles down the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. Come out for a great time and lots of smiles! Parade begins at 9 a.m.
13: Happy Mother’s Day! Bring Mom and Grandma to the Smoky Mountains and enjoy a true mountain experience in a cabin by Heartland Rentals. See May cabin deals and book your stay!
17-19: Grand National F-100 Ford Reunion Car Show – Car Show and Cruise at Music Road Convention Center brings ’48-’79 Ford F-100 pickups and panels to Pigeon Forge.
17-21: Minor League Baseball – It’s the Tennessee Smokies vs Mississippi Braves at Smokies Stadium in Kodak TN. See the full 2018 season schedule at smokiesbaseball.com
18-19: Annual Bloomin’ BBQ & Bluegrass Festival – No one wants to miss this free event in Sevierville that brings scrumptious BBQ and an amazing lineup of entertainment to downtown. This 2-day festival has Bluegrass music, Bush’s Best TN State Championship Cookoff with Kansas City Barbecue Society certified judges, a fun Kid’s Zone and plenty of good eats. Event takes place Friday 5-10 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
18-19: Smoky Mountain Powersports Expo – Pigeon Forge Convention Center
The first Annual Powersports expo comes to Pigeon Forge and is your place to see all the leading Atvs, UTVs, Rock Bouncer’s, Personal Watercraft, Motorcross bikes, Jeeps AND MORE! This indoor event will feature an array of Powersports Equipment, Accessories and Aftermarket parts designed to boost performance, add functionality and enhance appearance to your offroad vehicle.The event is open to the public, offroad enthusiasts and offroad clubs throughout the nation.
25-27: Family Fest in the Smokies – Gatlinburg Convention Center
The Gaither’s present their annual Family Fest in Gatlinburg. This musical celebration includes three days of concerts and special guest speakers. Performers include Gaither Vocal Band, Jimmy Fortune, The Booth Brothers, The Hoppers, Kevin Williams and many more!

25-June 10: Dollywood Barbeque & Bluegrass Festival – Ten-day Bluegrass music festival at Dollywood TN featuring hundreds of free concerts performed by top names in Bluegrass and smokin’ southern BBQ! Visit Market Square for delicious BBQ favorites. Performers include Blue Highway, Darrell Webb Band, Flatt Lonesome, Po Ramblin Boys, Salt and Light, and so many others. Park your vehicle at Patriot Park or right here in the Convention Center parking lot and ride the trolley!
26: Annual Memorial Weekend Cruise In – Visit The Diner in Sevierville for a fun event with music by Gary’s Sound Machine. $10 puts you in drawings for cash prizes. Free beverage with meal purchase and merchandise discounts offered. Event takes place Noon-5 p.m.
28: Happy Memorial Day! Celebrate this day with your family and friends and remember those who’ve died in service of the USA.
