When you attend a convention or conference in Pigeon Forge at LeConte Center, you’ll surely want to make time to mosey over to The Island. The Island boasts great food, specialty shopping, live entertainment and rides for all ages. One place we recommend is Timberwood Grill, a mountain lodge restaurant.
Adjacent to the Convention Center is the free city parking lot for The Island. You can park and ride one of the open-air trolleys circulating the parking lot, or take a trolley from Patriot Park if you prefer. When you enter The Island, you’ll find Timberwood Grill near the base of the Smoky Mountain Wheel.
A big black bear will greet you just inside the restaurant doors, which makes for a great photo op. Snap a couple of pictures or two before the hostess takes you through the lodge style dining area to your preferred booth or table. You’ll be presented an excellent menu offering Angus beef or Bison burgers, sassy BBQ ribs and Pork, hearty salads and a variety of sandwiches. You can pair your plates and platters with sides such as Bourbon beans, sweet potato fries, rich macaroni & cheese or a steaming baked potato.
Timberwood has a full bar, that in addition to special moonshine creations and top shelf liquors, serves ales and lagers on tap and wine by the glass or bottle. If you’re under 21, you’ll love the fact that Timberwood serves Coke products that include Seagram’s Ginger Ale and Barq’s Rootbeer! (Where else do you find these two on the menu?)
Even if you only have time for a cold soda and an appetizer, sit a spell indoors or outside on the covered patio and order Timberwood’s signature Corn Dodgers. These bad boys are slow-cooked BBQ pulled pork stuffed in corn fritters, deep-fried and served with our smoky BBQ sauce.
