Pancakes, Flapjacks, Griddle Cakes, Crepes
Is it a light and fluffy inside and a golden brown outside? Or, is it slightly crispy edges and a tender middle that makes us crave our pancakes so? Warm rounds of deliciousness, hot off the stove with sweet cream butter and drizzled with 100% maple syrup. Does breakfast get any better than this? Evidently not in Pigeon Forge TN!
Pigeon Forge has pancake restaurants AND restaurants that serve pancakes all over town from beginning to end. And we’re guessing that each and every one of them believes their pancakes are the best, either using Granny’s secret family recipe or a pancake recipe that has undergone intense scrutiny in some fancy-schmancy test kitchen. From famous chain restaurants to Mom ‘n Pop’s, one thing is for sure: city folk love pancakes as much us we do!
The restaurants below make pancakes their priorities with choices such as buttermilk, whole wheat, buckwheat, corn meal, topped, stacked and stuffed.

Fluffy Pancake Recipe: Makes 8
Prep: 10 minutes / Cool: 10 minutes / Ready to Eat: 25 minutes
3/4 cup milk
2 tbsp white vinegar
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp white sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
2 tbsp butter, melted
cooking spray
Directions:
Combine milk with vinegar in a medium bowl and set aside for 5 minutes to “sour”.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into “soured” milk. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and whisk until lumps are gone.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Pour 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto the skillet, and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip with a spatula, and cook until browned on the other side.
Serve with REAL butter and REAL maple syrup for optimum palate pleasure.
