July 2017 Summer Fun Things to Do
It’s the ‘thick’ of summer in the Smokies. It’s the ‘thick’ of summer everywhere, but the place to spend it is in the Smokies! We’ve got cool summer events, cool things to do, and – literally – cool places to be. We hope you’ll head to East Tennessee to celebrate the 2017 summer season enjoying your family in a great vacation cabin, taking adventures in the great outdoors, and indulging in all things Great Smoky Mountains.

1-3: Tennessee Smokies Baseball Home Games – TN Smokies vs Jackson Generals at Smokies Stadium in Kodak TN. Fireworks Saturday! Enjoy fireworks after the game. Visit online for the full 2017 season schedule at smokiesbaseball.com
1-29: Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales – Your family will love the street performances taking place each night along the strip in downtown Gatlinburg. Beginning at 6 p.m. each evening, you’ll find musicians, cloggers, storytellers and singers hitting the streets to perform for you each night through July 29! We love our Appalachian roots and this is a great event to introduce Gatlinburg fans to traditional entertainment.
1-13: National Picnic Month
1- August 6: Dollywood’s “Summer Live Here” Great American Summer Celebration – Celebrate your all-American love of family, food and fun at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. Park is open longer – 10 a.m.-10 p.m. – for a full 12 hours of thrill rides, special live entertainment, and great summer cooking at onsite restaurants from. Be sure to stick around for Dolly’s Nights of Many Colors fireworks show every night at 9:30 p.m. Dollywood.com.
1- August 12: Free Parkway Trolley – Nine weeks of free trolley rides! If you love to walk, shop and dine in downtown Gatlinburg, take advantage of free trolley service that allows you to get on and off as often as you’d like between traffic lights #1 and #10. Trolley runs from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. every day.
1- September 4: Titanic Movie Costumes Display – View costumes featured in James Cameron’s “Titanic Movie” in honor of the movie’s 20th Anniversary. See all Titanic events. http://www.titanicpigeonforge.com/titanic-pigeon-forge-events
1, 8, 15, 22, 29: Gatlinburg Farmers Market – Shop our local farmer’s market for locally grown fruit and veggies, and locally made good stuff in the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Community at the Covered Bridge on Glades Road. Open every Saturday 8:30 a.m. – Noon now through October 8. Visit online at www.gatlinburgfarmersmarket.com for vendor and product information.
2, 9, 16, 23, 30: Kid’s Day at Quaker Steak – Every Sunday through January 14, 2018 is Kid’s Day at Quaker Steak & Lube in Sevierville. Ages 10 & under get a Kid’s Lube Cruiser meal for $1.99 when accompanied by an adult diner from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
3: 4th of July Midnight Parade – This 42nd annual showcase salutes the valiant men and women of our military services in the “First July Fourth Parade in the Nation!” Parade starts at the stroke of midnight to begin Independence Day. Floats, balloons and marching bands pay tribute to our country during this awesome night parade!
3, 10, 17, 24, 31: Kid’s Night at Texas Roadhouse Sevierville – Every Monday from 5-8 p.m. now through December 18, your kids can join in a legendary roundup of fun including Andy Armadillo, face painting and coloring during a variety of theme nights. To top of the fun is an ice cream sundae bar!
4: 27th Annual Patriot Festival – This Independent Day Celebration takes place from Noon-10 p.m. at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge. Activities begin at noon and live entertainment begins at 1:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and hang out for the entire day. Food and beverages are available for purchase. 4: River Raft Regatta – Gather to cheer this the unmanned, floatable object race or call to participate! Free registration begins at 10 a.m. at bridge beneath the chair lift on River Road. Race begins at noon at Christ of the Smokies bridge and ends at Ripley’s Aquarium. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Call (800) 568-4748 for details.
4: 4th of July Fireworks Show – Join the 4th of July party in downtown Gatlinburg to celebrate “Independence Day” with a fantastic evening of entertainment and fireworks. You’ll want to be between lights #3-#5 before 10 p.m. for the best view!
4, 11, 18, 25: Kid’s Night at Texas Roadhouse Pigeon Forge – Every Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. now through December 27, your kids can join in a legendary roundup of fun including face painting, arts & crafts, a balloon artist, and eating contest. To top of the fun is $.99 Ranger meals and an ice cream sundae bar!
8, 22: Free Music Nights at Hard Rock Cafe – Head to the Hard Rock Cafe Pigeon Forge for free concerts from 10 p.m.-12 a.m.

14-23: Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair – Art, crafts and music lovers will discover over 200 booths featuring some of the nation’s finest work. Artisans and craftspeople are on hand to demonstrate their skills, answer questions and offer their unique art for sale. Live Country & Bluegrass entertainment. 28-29: 2017 Free Concert Series – Visit the Sugarlands Shine Stage for two nights of free music from 7-10 p.m. Friday night is Holy Ghost Tent Revival play soul-rock and Saturday night brings the honky-tonk style of The Barstool Romeos.
29: Hot Nights, Cool Cars Cruise In – Visit The Diner in Sevierville for a fun event with a focus on cool cars! Music by Gary’s Sound Machine. $10 puts you in drawings for $25 (2) & $50 (2), free beverage with meal purchase, merchandise discounts, Trophies for Best of Show, The Diner Pick, The Diner Rats Big Cheese and Most Patriotic. Event takes place Noon-5 p.m.
