There’s More Than Just Skiing on Ski Mountain
Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort is more than just snow, skis and snowboards. It’s also a fun, family amusement park high atop Ski Mountain with lots of indoor attractions and outdoor activities that can be enjoyed in every season year round.
If you’re downtown, hop on the Aerial Tram for a 2.1 mile ride and take in the panoramic mountain views. The tram makes continuous departures from downtown Gatlinburg at Parkway and LeConte Street (across from Calhoun Village). Once you arrive at Ober, here is a lineup of fun things to do indoors and out.
Wildlife Encounter
Ski Mountain Coaster: An exhilarating coaster ride with 2750 ft. of turns, dips, zig-zags and corkscrews. Take a “slow ride” or reach speeds of up to 25 mph… the controls are up to you!
Alpine Slide: This is a combination thrill that includes a chairlift ride up the mountain so that you can speed right back down through woods and ski trails.
Chair Lift: The scenic chairlift is one of the longest in the South. Ride up and down and enjoy free Bluegrass music at the top of the mountain in between. The band performs daily from Memorial Day through Thanksgiving.
Amaze’n Maze: This labyrinth of passages and road blocks makes a fun competition for the entire family. Get your passport when you enter and make your way to checkpoints to receive your stamps all the while racing the clock. Prices awarded!
Wildlife Encounter: If you haven’t seen a bear from your balcony at Highlands, you can at Ober Gatlinburg. Come see the twins, Holly & Chief, born January, 2012. After watching the bears play, walk through the Nocturnal House, Birds of Prey Aviary, and River Otters in the underwater viewing area.
Mini-Golf Course
Chair Swing: A traditional carnival ride that will have you flying through the air!
Water Rides: Climb the tower to Blue Cyclone Rapids and hang on to your raft! From 60′ high, you’ll reach speeds of up to 30 mph as you ride the enclosed chute for 600′.
Mini-Golf Course: Play a round of putt-putt with 18 holes of obstacles.
Kiddie Land: An ultimate playground featuring slides, tunnels, ladders and a swinging bridge. Ticket is good for the entire day!
Ice Skating: Located in the center of the Ober Gatlinburg complex is an ice skating rink! Enjoy a 3-hour skating session with skate rental included.

Want to spend the day on top of Ski Mountain? There’s no need to take a break from the fun because Ober Gatlinburg offers a full-menu restaurant and eateries for a quick bite. Choose from The Fudge Shop, The Market, or the Sidewalk Cafe for pizza, a burger, or snacks. If you’d like a full meal, the Seasons of Ober Restaurant cooks up appetizers, steaks, chicken and pork entrees, and all the trimmings. A kids menu is also available and the restaurant is open every day from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
